Allison Slater 328 Report post Posted February 26, 2009 http://www.wzzm13.com/news/news_story.aspx...42&catid=14 Liquor license owners would pay $1,500 for permits to stay open until 4 A.M. and sell alcohol before noon on Sunday. It's an idea Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm supports but most police departments oppose.

gvsusean 62 Report post Posted February 26, 2009 We have other examples to look at.. How well does it work in Chicago? S. Carolina? I am not 100% sure, but as it stands I am pro 4am
suydam 1 Report post Posted February 26, 2009 I don't see the big deal. 2am was an arbitrary time anyway. There used to be "third shift" bars that you could go to at 8am and get a beer with factory workers getting off 3rd shift. I say let businesses decide and it won't be that big of a deal. If it's anything like Chicago, it'll be a small number of establishments anyway. It costs more to stay open later, and that added cost is going to mean that only a select set of bars even bother making the jump.
Allison Slater 328 Report post Posted February 26, 2009 I imagine we'd be talking about places such as the BOB and other high-income establishments. Supposedly EVE at the BOB is already open to 3, they just don't serve any alcohol during the last hour.
snoogit 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2009 I say it's worth it. There will be few bars that would be open, and I highly doubt there will be that many people still out at 7AM, unless they are masochists.
Ted 50 Report post Posted February 27, 2009 http://www.wzzm13.com/news/news_story.aspx...42&catid=14 (The two paragraph rule is quite annoying with WZZM's one-sentence paragraph format...)
