Four States Fairgrounds and Texarkana, Ark. officials are celebrated what they say will be a big revenue generator for the city. A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the opening of a new Equine Center was held Thursday. Partnering with the Four States Fair Association, Texarkana, Ark., allocated nearly $1.2 million in tourism tax revenues to build the equestrian center. The facility will be used to host equine events such as team roping, barrel racing, cutting horse competitions, horse shows and livestock shows. The equestrian industry generates more than one billion dollars annually and organizers believe the new facility will bring a big chunk of that pie to Texarkana coffers. Four States Fair Association President and CEO Dwight Duncan said the new center has already generated a lot of interest from people within the industry who are wanting to book events in the facility. This is going to be a tremendous economic impact for the city of Texarkana, Ark. Dates are already being booked through 2009 into 2010. The events lined up will bring people into the city and generate revenue. The facility is a work in progress even though it tops other equine centers for miles around. This is the foremost equine center in the state of Arkansas and within a 150 mile radius.
