Ideas for Bill's flea market

Well good ole Bill's has gone to that flea market in the sky. The second fire seems to have done what the first couldn't and the building is now completely destroyed. Out of this unfortunate turn of events comes an opportunity however. Redevelopment that would have taken years otherwise can now begin in earnest. I'm hoping the city will now decide to go ahead and buy this land and bank it. Anyone have any good ideas on what can go there?

Virginia Beach is not going to let a big box retailer build anything there. They are talking about urban street grid to connect with town center and the Citywalk Project which is pretty close to being finalized and fianced with a New York Invester.. They even told Sifen he can not build any strip malls. They want that for urban use only..Mid to Highrise type of buildings.. Not scooping back to light commerical.. That would turn soo many upcoming companies away from town center. and Town Center would die. We need urban type of development to lure in investers like citywalk project.. But now since the Bills flea market is completely down to the ground now. They will start planning town center to that area...One big downtown area

So you think the City should give up valuable property for a Park?...We have Mt Trashmore.. Thats all we need. that property is prime. Developers will lure in and start buildng mixed use developments to blend in with town center. We could have small parks..fountain plazas.. We dont need a huge park in the middle of a light commerical area.. It just makes nosense.. Wasting tax dollars on a park?.. They need to zone it mixed use and start gridstreet plannning. There is about 50 acres of PRIME Real estate property.. Maybe run lightrail through the Citywalk project into town center to the oceanfront.. I agree on green spaces.. But not 50 acres..lol. Maybe trees and grass ontop of the buildings like in the citywalk project rendering.. That would defiently compliment town center/pembroke area.

Nope. I rode by the old bills flea market today and seen they were tearing the rest of the eye sore down and scooping the remains and dumping them in dump trucks that are lined up...lol. While driving by. I seen a sign posted for Town Center Market Place.. They spruced up the project abit to make it blend in with town center.. Shops at Town Center is coming as well.. Sadly to say. That side will be another Retail Strip center.. City walk is still in the picture.. Probably going to go where Bills flea market once was. But Not sure if they can get 850 million with the economic down turns. But I guess the Town Center Market Place would bring lots of jobs to the area.. Everything seems to be preleased. no space available.. Such a busy intersection. 200k VPD drive by there. so it would boom up development in that area.. At least they are building something in the bare abandoned waste land..

Here is a better idea, why not build a proper planetarium in part of the Bills flea market area and perhaps settign aside some space for sidewalk lined shops and a small green zone.

a lot better than the current one at plaza, maybe even cooperate with the Virginia Air and space museum and/or aquarium:

Plazoo alumni in the house! '91-92, '92-'93 I was there at the transition between Junior High and Middle school. 7th grade Plaza Jr. High, 8th grade Plaza Middle School, then 9th at P.A.H.S. So, I only got two years at the zoo.
