Has Rush Limbaugh become the titular head of the GOP?

Joe Lieberman left the Democrats simply to win. There's no ideology there.

Arlen Specter left the Republicans to win as well. No ideology there either. Both did what it took to hold onto their seats. I don't really see hypocrisy from the media, but I do find Lieberman and Specter's switcheroos to be most tiresome ---the blatant maneuvering of political hacks. In it for the power, not the ideology.

I hope extremists like Rush continue to speak, whether asked to or not, for the Republican party. I know hate speak ran quite a few moderate Republican voters over the other side in the past election, and if we see better times and any improvement in the economy (speaking strictly in terms of better -- not recovery) than the 'just say no' party will be left in the dust. I don't believe Obama, or the country as a whole, has to fare much better compared with the last two years to show success. I'm also not saying he should have all the credit if things do get better, but the average American just wants the bad news to stop, the feeling of free fall in the economy and job market to be over, and some ray of sunshine that things are a little better in order to not label this administration as a failure. In other words no big screw ups by the administration and moderate improvement, the GOP can't run on the tired old methods that Rush has made a mint espousing.

Toss in Steeles decision to rake up gay marriage as a possible wedge issue again and all you have are a bunch of guys with no new ideas trying to make it in a new world.

Long live RUSH!

Well the pot has called the kettle beige.

Extremist radio personality Michael Savage has just attacked fellow extremist Rush Limbaugh.....called him a fraud and a phony. I wonder how long before Savage grovels and apologizes to the mighty Rush.

Savage also recently attacked Bill O'Reilly. A little dissension in the extremism ranks.

Pondering if Rush is the voice of the GOP seems a little silly to me. That is like saying that Michael Moore was the voice of the Dems in 2004. He wasn't. Rush and Moore are the same people, just on different sides of the aisle with different mediums of communication. They are both a bunch of loudmouth idiots who have figured out how to making a living acting like loudmouth idiots. They both ran thousands of moderate-type voters to the other side of the aisle. Rush is all over the news right now because the GOP is a mess and now he has a clear adversary in the Obama Admin (and he also did in the Clinton admin), just as Michael Moore had a clear adversary in the Bush admin.

I sincerely hope that everyone (especially those in the GOP) is smart enough to realize that Rush's idiocy is representative of a very, very small number of people.

^But Moore has never had political figures apologize to him (most especially not the head of the Democrats) for daring to speak against him as Rush has. Having the party worried about him and cow toe to him is far different than Moore. I don't think anyone but conservatives believe that Moore speaks for the party -- he often has good points, but he doesn't sway tthe party as a whole.

Regardless of whether Rush has a large following or not, he has a lot of influence on the party itself (if not why Steele making such a sad and public apology for having an opinion contrary to Rush?).

Actually a new Gallup poll shows a 4% decline in people associating with the DNC and and increase of 6% in people associating with the GOP. I can see why some are disassociating with the DNC (extreme left angry with Obama moving more towards the center, restarting tribunals and now the Democrats in Congress refusing to provide funding for moving inmates at Gitmo, etc), but an increase for the GOP?

Steele keeps talking about the GOP moving towards the future. If he wants to move towards the future, he can start by resigning. The GOP is in bad need f new leadership and direction. They also need to stop the mudslinging that some GOP members have resorted to, such as calling DNC members o"socialist Democrats."

Rush has become a persona non gratis as far as the NFL is concerned. As most of you probably know, Rush wanted to go in with a group to buy an NFL team.

Owing to Rush's racist attitudes in the past, a public outcry ensued. Many players stepped forward to voice their extreme concern, and Al Sharpton even got involved-lol

On a recent radio broadcast, Rush threatened to leave the States if health care reform passes the Congress. Then when asked where he might go, Rush mentioned Costa Rica. Rush didn't do his homework well----Costa Rica has public health care.

Reminds me of the hilarious threat Oral Roberts made at one time "........if I don't raise $5 million, the lord is gonna call me home."
