Traffic Flow Maps

10 posts in this topic

Google has recently added several traffic flow monitors to their map service. On top of I10, I12, and I110 they now also have Airline Hwyfrom I110 to New Orleans, Floridia BLvd from the River past Denhman Springs, and Plank Rd from I110 to Airline Hwy. In WBR they also Have Hwy 1 from Port Allen to just south of I10.

Microsoft has I10, I12, I110, Airline Hwy, Plank Rd, and Hwy 61 North of the Airport.

They both have incident icons showing where accidents occur with time they were reported and the estimated clear time.

This is going to be a nice tool when we look at houses soon.

Baton Rouge needs better access into Livingston. Check the map around 5:30 on a weekday afternoon, and you'll see what I mean.

Me neither, I'm presently looking at Ascension Parish but then again I don't work downtown either. But even if I did it seems as if traffic is not nearly as bad.

What is the commute time from the good school districts to downtown? (Zachary, Walker/I-12, and HWY 44 in Ascension...normal 8-5 job)

Livingston Parish could be 60-90 minutes depending on the day, worse if there is an accident on Interstate. Ascension is usually around 60 minutes.

From a traffic standpoint... then Zachary is probably the path of least resistance.

I have often wondered WHY people will move to Ascension Parish for the schools..ex" Dutchtown"...when there NO real difference jumping Bayou Manchac in SE EBR to the new Woodlawn HS??

Yeah, Zachary probably is, that or WBR. I live off of Jones Creek and the drive here to downtown is usually around 45 minutes during peak times, unless school is out then it's 20-25 minutes...usually.
