World Wide Lights Out Event

Is Grand Rapids going to participate in this world wide lights out event? Considering we want to be the green capital I think it is in our best interest to do so... wht does everyone else think?

I'm an organist at a church in GR and I just talked to our pastor about this. We have a big bell tower that gets uplit every night and we are shutting it off for this event. Don't know if this counts though...haha.

I'm hoping that places around GR do this though!

We need to turn out the unnecessary lights every night. Why does the building code call for lights on the side of offices and warehouses? Why do we light up the walls of the courthouse and GVSU at night? They could be put on motion detectors if they were needed for public safety.

A representative at Mecosta County Health Center told me someone wanted to turn off the electricity at the hospital for this event. Sounds like a good idea to me......
