I'm not so sure that it's fair to place OSX and Windows in the same camp. I use both heavily since I support a 100+ workstation environment that is 98% Windows workstation and server based. The exception to that is my MPB that I use to manage it and a UNIX server. I'm 100% Apple at home from iPhone to the three Macs in constant use from my wife and myself. There is no comparison between the build quality of a PC and a Mac, Apple definitely takes better care in choosing higher quality components and design for their products.

Windows boxes are refreshed so often and are so cheap that they don't have the same effort in design and quality put into them (for the most part).
