Ideas for a wedding rehearsal dinner? (on the cheap)

8 posts in this topic

So we found that our potential site for our rehearsal dinner is going to be too expensive.

So since UrbanPlanet knows GR, we are looking for ideas.

Our dinner must be in the 28th street area.

So we are looking for ideas of places that have either rental space that is low-priced and will accommodate about 35 people, or a restaurant that has banquet space.

Most likely we will be looking at a restaurant that has banquet space.

We are TRYING to stay right around $10 per person.

So if you have any ideas of any places we can check out, that would be great!

Olive Garden? Chipoltle? That brewing company place out front of Centerpointe Mall? Brann's?

Chinese buffet near the Hobby Lobby (former Jo-Ann's) has a back room.

What about some of the restaurants in the hotels? There's one at the corner of Patterson and 28th, and the Crown Plaza. Although $10/head is not a lot of mullah, even for dinner at Olive Garden.

Yeah, seems like doing something for $10/head will be challenging at many places. The Arnie's by Centerpointe is pretty decent size. Maybe they would have a section they could set aside for you? They should fit into your budget.

Maybe check out Pietro's. I know they have a room and some of the cheaper stuff on the banquet menu might fall into your price range. http://www.rcfc.com/Pietros/

(I don't have much advice as we had out rehearsal dinner at Craig's Cruisers, because we are just that classy...)

Hey,

If you can rent a room that allows you to bring in your own catering then I would recommend affordable feasts. We are using them for my rehearsal dinner this summer at a pavilion that we rented in a park. Their food is great and they do everything from small groups to GFS company picnics where they cook for 1000 people. If you have less than 75 they don't cook on site but cook at their location at Alpine/Richmond and run it over to your location. You can definitely get everything for less than $10 per person that way since you can customize your food order (ex. we have several vegetarians/vegans, which makes it much cheaper!) Plus you can set up a time to go sample food. To be honest our first impression was that their place didn't seem very professional (older building, dingy office, one of the deliver vans had a lot of kind of beat up etc) but they have a nice professional grade kitchen and their knowledge of how to balance meals and the great taste of everything we ate totally made us look past it and decide to book them. Obviously our experience was positive enough for me to recommend them and we haven't even had our rehearsal dinner yet! But yea if your on a budget and are not opposed to catering check them out.

Ya know...this thread is, interestingly, juxtaposed with the SONIC one...
