OK, I bet many of you have not seen this before. It used to be a very common way to find lawn mowers with this kind of starter. It worked great. Didn't have the complexity of an electric starter and the unreliability of pulling a cord. My grandmother used to have a couple of mowers with this kind of starter. Wish I had one of them now.

My first lawnmower at my first house had a starter like this. My parent's next door neighbor tinkered with all sorts of old mowers and he 're-conditioned' an old Craftsman to give to me as a housewarming gift. Used it for almost 6 years with no problems. Loved it and loved the way you started it!

Now that is the coolest.

Never saw one that I recall. My grandpa tinkered all the time but mainly with his ourboard (he was a fisherman)
