The idea that Charlotte is somehow unique in this battle is laughable. To an extent it seems to be a self fulfilling doom. Its not like TN, GA, PA, FL, OH, TX outside their major cities are not extremely similar politically to NC outside of Charlotte and Raleigh. We had huge negative publicity on the bathroom bill, while Texas was passing their own with no national media spotlight. Perhaps its a false impression, but I think our local media began the blowup over the bill, while media in Texas cities were much more muted, and it caused much less long term damage.

/\This.  I have said it before we (NC) are our own worst enemy.  Instead of working to advance the economic engines of the state we (NC) fight for scraps and the endless rurual vs city fight sucks the life out of any good ideas,  When will there be genuine leadership from any party gonna standup and act like its 2019 and not 1979.

I just don’t think assemblymen are looking at each other and saying, “You know, they’re right. Our advocacy for our constituents is sucking the life out of the city.”

While not as glamorous as the Lending Tree, Avid Exchange, and Honeywell announcements, don’t forget the 500 job Sonic call center (which will pay a high avg wage for a call center) jobs and the 250+ food and beverage jobs between the Huntersville beverage plant and the Norwood tortilla plant.  That brings the total up to just a shade under 3200 total announced jobs for the metro area in the past month.

Yes both very important especially the Sonic operation.  and remember only some of the biggest job announcements are trumpeted for there are many smaller job expansions and our big banks like to quietly add jobs without fanfare.

And another nearly 1000 jobs coming to the region via ServiceMac, just over the border in Indian Land.

https://www.wsoctv.com/news/local/mortgage-company-to-open-office-in-lancaster-county-creating-nearly-1000-new-jobs/891372503

We are now well in excess of 4000 jobs announced for the region in less than a month.

Edit: NM this is another SC poach job moving them from one county in the region to another.  I am sure that there will be several hundred additional jobs as it looks like an expansion as well.  However this is another Red Ventures/LPL/Movement/Roundpoint story.  Wash, rinse, repeat.

At this rate the NC chamber may have to increase its 2019 prediction of 120,000 jobs added.

In 80 neighborhoods studied around the Charlotte region it is better to buy than to rent according to Business  Journal with just 13 exceptions where it is cheaper to rent.
