You know, I don’t think this is a stunner either (looks like we’re in the majority), and I was just thinking how this design would’ve worked better in SouthEnd.  But then I thought of the big glassy, imposing sleekness of the LendingTree development on the north end of SouthEnd, which reads like more of the uptown aesthetic.  Granted, 277 is a yuge separator, but the swapping of particular building styles in those locations may help blur the line between glassy uptown and brick mill and warehouse SouthEnd.  Especially as height continues to grow towards 277 in SE.

The only thing I see in that rendering is a parking garage as tall as BofA Stadium.  It sticks out sorely.

I am a wee-bit dubious of a survey which finds quality of life in Charlotte and Zurich to be roughly the same.

Charlotte gaining another HQ, this one a paper manufacturer.  Relocating from York, PA (just like Dentsply Sirona).  Looks like they do just under $1B revenue per year.  No mention of job count, but would guess a couple dozen.

I highly doubt it. If it moved, I would suspect it would move to NYC. The majority of the new execs would be based out of NYC.

FYI All - Curbed.com just published an article for “10 Best Cities to move to right now” and listed Charlotte among the chosen few.  That’s pretty impressive even though I’m not sure how they rate these things.  Also noted Raleigh as well.  NC was only the only State with two (2) Cities on the list.  Anyway here’s their opinion:

Arlington, VA

Boise, ID

Charlotte, NC

Dallas, TX

Denver, CO

Madison, WI

Minneapolis, MN

Provo, UT

Raleigh, NC

St. Louis, MO

I really don't understand why people think wells would not come to Charlotte. Bank of America did. There are more people out there ready to get out of NYC than you think. Even so, I bet most jobs come here over time and that is all that really matters.

BAC didn't move to Charlotte. Nationsbank and its predecessors grew here. Hugh McColl pulled a bunch of pirate-crap to force much of BankAmerica's San Francisco activity to Charlotte in 1998 following their "merger".  Those guys would not have relocated to  Charlotte if McColl had not put a gun to their heads.

The last thing Wells Fargo needs is moving to high profile/high cost NYC....cause....scandals.

No idea if they would move to Charlotte, but having 2 top 10 banks here already is probably enough concentration that it wouldn't be viewed as odd.  Other than that, it really depends on where the CEO sees revenue growth.
