Downtown Norfolk apartments in hot demand

I guess this is a good thing even though it is due more from the poor home real estate market and foreclosures than from a growing Norfolk economy. Regardless, it is bitter sweet to think that these apartments are sitting right across where Granby Tower could have been built. Granby Tower may have been finishing up right around this time as well. I know they were luxury condos and not apartments, but I wonder if they still could have sold well...

Boy, could they pick a more mediocre building to connect to the beautiful old city hall (museum). I mean, make it somewhat contextual, add a column or two. That building is anywhere museum 1980s. What a sad piece of work.

^ Not sure what that's all about. Anyway, I guarantee this will NOT open by Summer 2012 and it will be highly over budget.

I don't know, looking at the building, it is fairly simple and should go up fairly quickly. As for the budget for the building, I am betting that the MacArthur Foundation probably has a budget plan in place for this new building, at most they might have to have the city float a loan to finish the building if it comes in over budget, but nothing really gives me a feeling that with happen. Also it is a smart move to make this addition because it will further help make this area feel more like the center of downtown.

Construction of the Governor's School consolidation in the Monroe Building on Granby has begun recently.

Apparently, the renovation of the old building has resulted in an entire population of cockroaches trying to find a new home in and around TCC. That sucks.
