If you haven't made plans to leave town next Saturday, check out the triple header going on in Heartside on the 8th.

UICA will be shutting down Sheldon Ave for a Street Fair focused on recycling, with games for the whole family, from 5-7. Following that will be the second installment of Nosh Night - Recycled Runway. The UICA garages will be thrown open and a runway will run right out into the street, featuring fashion models in professionally designed garb of recycled materials and "trash." It will be HOT! Entry into both events ($5 and includes one drink ticket) also gets you into the Material Afterlife exhibit, featuring work from 30 artists. Also enjoy locally grown food by Bar Divani, Tommy Fitzgerald, 616, Bistro Bella Vita, The Green Well, Rockwell's, and Republic, great music and a cash bar. If you haven't been to UICA before, now is the time.

Going on simultaneously will be the Avenue for the Arts Street Market on South Division. Enjoy great music and great local vendors.

You should change the subject to Arts/Music/Bicycle Racing Quadruple Header.

just a couple of blocks away, a circuit around Van Andel Arena will be shut down for a criterium race with some of the Top US bicycle racers. If you haven't been paying attention (and chances are you haven't) our locally based Bissell Pro Cycling team has been doing very well in the US bicycle racing circuit, called the NRC (USA Cycling National Racing Calendar).

They are in 2nd place in the team standings and have the 2nd and 4th place overall riders. Many of the top racers in this "league" go on to race for teams at international UCI ProTour events. Bissell rider Ben Jaques-Mayne finished 2nd to Lance Armstrong in June at the Nevada City Classic. One of Armstrong's warm-up races for this year's Tour de France.

There will be a $12,000 purse for the winners, most of that in the pro race, and there will be a Kids race, which has been one of the spectator highlights for me the last couple of years. They are expecting over 250 kids to participate, some riding a whole lap and others just doing the length of the straightaway. It's a great chance for kids to get out and ride on the streets of downtown with no traffic.

Here's the race schedule. http://www.westmichigansportscommission.co...c/schedule.html

The Kid's race is at 3:45pm followed by the Men's Pro 1-2 race at 4:15pm, with many other races happening starting at 10:45am.
