Interesting article in today's current. Pratt is thinking about moving 800 jobs out of state. Meanwhile, the Connecticut state legislature is passing health care to get ahead of the Obama plan. Tough to build a lively city when you tax companies so much they flee Connecticut.

And that millionaires tax should really help attract CEOs to the state. "I'm moving my company to Connecticut so I can have a special tax put on my compensation!" Oh boy.

Sooner or later, more and more companies and executives are going to say no more and just leave. The cost of leaving and establishing new somewhere else would be better than remaining.

We need to lower taxes to create growth. Higher taxes hurt us in the long run. Too bad the Dems in the state house don't realize it.

Of course our RINO governor is going to cave to the Democrats, they can just override her on everything.

It also does not help she is a social conservative, and this cave in on the budget proves she's not much of a fiscal conservative. Oh wow, a sales tax drop to 5.5% which will likely get repealed anyway - what good does that do?

She's not delivering. The people in this state apparently don't want better though. When is Don Williams running for governor again? He'd probably beat Rell, sink the ship even faster.

It's still not a good excuse........ Rowland knew how to handle the Democrats a lot better-than Rell ever could. Honestly she should just change her party affiliation to democrat, because that is what she is acting like. As for Don williams.... It would not surprise me one bit if he won the governorship. CT is just way to blue of a State. for the GOP to ever gain a foot hold here. A 5.5% sales tax???????????? What a joke!!!!!! This will not spur the retail economy one bit. You want to get people spending again? Eliminate the sales tax all together, but of course that will never happen.

Or at least make it well lower than the other states around is. Mass. is 6.25 now, RI is 7, and the lowest in nearby New York is no lower than 7.5.

Drop the sales tax in Connecticut to about 2-3% and make this place a haven for shopping. Watch how many people rush the border, like all the Mass. people to New Hampshire. Why can't we do some of that? Leave a little tax to make something off it, but low enough to bring out of state people in to spend time and money.
