Would it honestly be cheaper to just tear this down and convert an existing building into a new library? Feel like that this point that would be more effective.

Hmm, I don't know if that would be cheaper, it definitely wouldn't be cheaper as measured in community confidence in the system lol.

Cool, they took off those cantilevers so O gotta that means the structural issue is fixed (hopefully).

Would you spend a lot of time under that particular canopy?   :)

After seeing the architectural renderings of this library, then seeing more of this library get constructed, fixed, reconstructed, etc..........

.........I am now more certain than ever that this is the ugliest building I've ever seen.

It was a huge waste of public funds and time.

I have been the minority here on UP; liking the  looks of the new Downtown Library ; the very top of  the new  Library (Silver) showing  above the tree tops; looks nice along the Cityscape

Wish  the 12 story Two City Plaza had been a little taller; like the original plan with parking deck podium underneath...would have basically been 16 floors

The old State Capitol may be my favorite structure in BR

Yeah it does look better than the rendering for sure. Can't wait to see the inside.

Me too Dan!

The new Library looks cool from the Port Allen side of the river too

Between Shaw Center for the Arts (Left) & Old State Capitol (Right)...still wish the historic Water Tower pipe would be painted into a iconic "Red Stick" with Baton Rouge painted onto it
