Drivers License Testing

Just the other day, we had a terrible tragedy here in Raleigh. A 6 year old girl getting off a school bus was struck and killed by an 83 year-old driver in an SUV that passed the bus, who claimed that the stop signals were not on, though about a dozen or so adult witnesses say the stop signals were all on. This has ignited a debate locally over whether the state should take another look at the drivers license laws and possibly start requiring safety tests on a yearly basis to drivers over a certain. IMO, I think that we should give this a look and I would certainly support support yearly tests over a certain age. Statistically, this age group has more accidents than even teens.

Thoughts? Opinions?

I know old people who say they should be tested more often. It should be some kind of hybrid test though, because going to the DMV every year would get extremely old (no pun intended).
