Will The Hartford add more jobs to Charlotte?

Well, today Liam McGee has been named CEO of The Hartford, one of the nations larger insurance companies. At BofA he headed consumer banking and was based in Charlotte.

This is pure speculation, but it could make sense to grow Charlotte operations for The Hartford. A couple of reasons it makes sense.

#1. McGee headed consumer banking at BofA. The Hartford became a bank holding company last year (like GMAC) and presumably will offer some sort of consumer banking products, so he seems a natural fit to start this new business line.

#2. The Hartford already has a presence in Charlotte (up at Univ. Research Park) which has been hiring a moderate amount of jobs lately.

#3. Though not a Charlotte native, McGee lived here a long time. Like DeMolina at GMAC, I could see him wanting to expand in Charlotte, as he is knowledgable of the local workforce.
