Chattanooga Housing Authority "Green" Grant

The latest LEED project for Chattanooga comes from a federal grant for CHA to build a green housing development in N. Chattanooga.

CHA is one of 36 public housing authorities to receive stimulus funding for a "green" project. The grant is $4,877,330.

The current units near Mississippi Avenue have a number of structural problems and are scheduled for demolition. The new units will be energy efficient with solar panels on the roof meeting 10% of energy need. As far as CHA knows this may be the first public housing with solar panels. If it is not cost prohibitive CHA wants LEED certification.

There will be 48 three story units.
