Why we need architecture

5 posts in this topic

On Point (heard on NPR) had an interesting discussion yesterday about why we need architecture and how architecture integrates with the world around us, not only physically but with world events that occur in the time period things are designed.

You can listen to the podcast (~45 minutes) here: http://www.onpointradio.org/2009/11/why-we-need-architecture

I'd be interested in hearing about how world events coincided with the advent of brutalism, that's for sure.

I'd be interested to know what the correlation is between decreasing intricacy and computers. If it can't be designed in google sketch up then it doesn't get built.
