We have thousands of locally owned restaurants doing a killing.  People think because we lost a 45 year old chicken and burger place, there will be no where left to eat.  And 10 years ago, all people wanted was "we need more xyz restaurants" and never once visited a Zaks, Bill Spoons, or Prices.  I have been to Prices once, Zacks zero, Bill Spoons once.  I promise, I have had better food in the QC and won't starve.  We are in our heyday for good restaurants right now.  Not every old restaurant in town is a Pat's Cheesesteak or Kat's Deli.  No one was spending $4+ mill to buy a majority ownership in Price's like what happened to Pat's 10 years ago to keep it going even longer.

I hadn’t been but know a few folks that had gone (each once only).  Not one had a good thing to say about it.  Cold food (that tasted like Souffer’s frozen), under-seasoned dishes, uncaring management were the common threads.  I don’t mean to kick anyone when they’re down, but I’m not surprised to hear this one.

When I see open tables and the host says 15-20 minutes I know that is not personal. It means the staff is not available for every table. Patience.

I empathize with the entire restaurant industry.  This place is a really good place. I frequent it alot. 

Some other places I used to frequent have brought me cold food which is a potential serious health and safety risk and when I mentioned to the staff, they brought out the same thing and did nothing to correct it. Didn't even get a apology. Staff shortages should not give staff a excuse to be unprofessional. My opinion does not implicate the entire industry as a whole, but only the few establishments I have frequented.

Please do not promote the false narrative that people are staying at home collecting unemployment checks. We are sub 4% unemployment rates for both the US and NC; essentially back to where we were pre-pandemic. There is no such thing as a labor shortage, Mac's is simply not paying a competitive market wage.

There are still many people out of work. I think it's just boils down to industry. Some industries are suffering more than others.

Pizza Spiga closed their doors for the last time yesterday. They're moving at least some of their operation to NY Pizza and Pasta in Indian Trail, according to their social media.

After researching the upcoming Rally pickleball complex, I discovered that Good Road CiderWorks closed last November.  Obviously, I wasn't a frequent patron, but I always enjoyed my time there and it was the only place I knew of to grab a mead.

Fixed typos

Walking by a few minutes ago it sure does LOOK like Bocado is packing up and getting out of their Atherton Mill spot (the old Big Ben). There was a large, rented, moving truck loading in furniture and kitchen fixtures. The sign was also gone.

They are normally closed on Mondays, so there is a chance they are just refurbing and adjusting, but I would bet on them being gone.

It’s weird cause they just posted about their Mother’s Day brunch but yeah wouldn’t be surprised. Weird concept, never caught on and just wasn’t good.

They are still accepting reservations, so maybe not??   I too am not a fan of the place.
