The former Korean Cleaners on Park Road adjacent to Park Road Center may soon be a wine and chocolate shop. I wondered what was the delay in this since the cleaner has been closed since last year. 

I am assuming a cleaners needs a lot of remediation on the whole property.

This is thanks to my household historian who spotted this at the Park Road Center:

Ivey's Little Shop in faint lettering on the side of the wall. This section of the building has the Cotton Shop on the front side. The Blackhawk garden section is in the foreground on the rear side of the center. Ivey's was a major department store in Charlotte. The store was on Tryon at 5th and faced Belk as the competing general merchants for decades. The original building is now The Ivey boutique hotel. My household historian tells me that at the opening of Park Road Center or shortly after Ivey's made their foray into suburban retail at this location. The store had women's clothing on the main level facing the large parking area. There is a break between buildings at this spot and steps go down to the lower rear area and on this lower area was a small men's clothing shop, very small, maybe 1000 sq ft she guesses. The upper level had women and children clothes. There were no other of the departments from the main store. No wedding or bridal, no kitchenware, crystal or china, none of the traditional home items. Thus the little shop. This is so faint that in certain light and from some angles it is nearly invisible. I parked for Amélie's and saw this through my windshield as I was nearly straight on facing it.

Iveys is the Charlotte store I miss the most.  Loved their uptown store and their suburban stores.

I know some tech people loosing their damn minds about this. Apparently, it's a highly coveted store.

Per the Charlotte Ledger: Chipotle decision: The Charlotte City Council is expected to approve a rezoning that would allow a Chipotle on a prominent corner on Park Road, at the intersection with East Woodlawn Road.

Great..... so now we'll have the Chick-Fil-A that still backs up onto Woodlawn despite the redesign and now a Chipotle that will have constant cars pulling in and out.  There needs to be a new rule that prevents these two chains from locating within at least a half mile from each other.

I was in far west side of San Antonio and they had a Chick-fil-A and In N Out Burger side by side and boy were the back ups bad.  I could barely get in to get my Double Double!  

But these high volume drive throughs and I would include Starbucks in that mix too need to be spread more apart I agree.

Neighbors of the Park Road YWCA received the invitation to participate in a virtual meeting about this project on their property. Mooted four years ago and perhaps moving forward now
