Augmented reality apps...

I have a few augmented reality apps installed on my iPhone, but most work in the same way. Banners with text are displayed on the screen showing the name of a place and the distance from where you currently are positioned. It was really cool for about 10 minutes and then the newness wore off because it doesn't offer anything that warrants 'reality' in the name. Now check out this video of an augmented reality layer:

I could see something like this really taking off for things like city tours. You could display how a building in Rome would have looked when it was built when looking at the site through the mobile app for example. Obvious, like the video, this could be used for showing unfinished projects in our cities. This would be a great way to build excitement for a project IMO. Any thoughts?
