from the 1/17/10 PROJO:

"In contrast, Chevron Corp. is paying for environmental remediation of a nearby site, a 25-acre parcel across from the Metacomet Country Club that is to become a $200-million mixed-use development called Village on the Waterfront.

Chevron is developing the site in a joint venture with Village on the Waterfront LLC, led by Picerne Real Estate Group executives Michael A. Hennessey and Raymond M. Uritescu. The site was used as a Gulf Oil petroleum storage facility from 1909 to 1984.

The first phase of Village on the Waterfront will include four buildings, including 125 condominiums and townhouses and 40,000 square feet of retail and commercial space.

In keeping with East Providence’s mandates for its waterfront district, 10 percent of the housing units will be affordable and site plans include public access to the waterfront.

Plans include a public waterfront park, a fishing pier, mooring dock, and a kayak rental shop and kayak launch."
