I'm inpressed with how fast VCOM is incorprating the Dupre house into their site. They have already started extending the brick fence to enclose the house as well. Can't wait to see what they do with the area.

Another photo update on the VCOM construction. The black, metal fence is being put up around the perimeter. They've got Howard Street completely closed off between College St. & Magnolia St. for streetscape improvement. Looking good.

Here are a few pictures of the VCOM construction that I took a few days ago. As you can see, the exterior is getting pretty close to completion, streetscape improvements continue, and the scaffolding has come down from the smokestack.

What was being done to the stack up at the top, adding lights or something?

No idea. I would guess just structural stabilization. Lights would be cool, though.

Great shot!!! The photo shows how close VCOM really is to Downtown and Wofford. I think it also shows how the County offices are in the ideal location for apartments and mixed use along Church St. Within easy walking distance of all three.

The synergy between VCOM, Wofford, SRHS, SCCC downtown campus, CCC, and "The George" will no doubt help downtown Spartanburg become more vibrant.

A few days ago the H-J quoted a VCOM spokesperson as saying something like they [VCOM] had yet to decide how to utilize the Dupre House but were still planning to renovate it and make it part of their campus.

Workers were starting construction on the Dupree house exterior today as I passed by. This is going to be a really nice addition to the VCOM campus.

Work on the DuPre House is ramping up. Contractors are currently securing the exterior (roof, foundation, etc) to make it waterproof, so they can then start working on the interior. They also sent the original doors and windows to a restoration company. Good to hear!

Gates were open today. Rode my bike around trail and parking lot. Looks great!

I was actually on the roof at VCOM the other day looking at there A/C units so we could quote on their filter business. When we finished, the facilities engineer gave me a tour of the whole facility. It is so state of the art its crazy. LG 48" flat panels in every nook and cranny. Microphones and cameras in every teaching room where lectures and seminars can be reviewed later or streamed at any time. They have a conference room upstairs that they are encouraging the public to ask to use for any type meeting someone might have. The guy said that a group of baseball coaches recently asked if they could hold their spring player draft there and it was approved. He said they really want to reach out and help the community where they can and not just the north side where they are but everywhere. It was a pretty cool visit.

After visiting the Farmers' Market and the Railroad Museum on Saturday morning, I walked over to check out the DuPre House. It looks like masonry work on the chimneys is complete.

I drove by the DuPre House today. It looks like they're now working on the roof. For instance, they are rebuilding a section of roof over a side porch. So renovations continue...slowly.

Renovations of the DuPre House continue. The molding? around the roof has been replaced/finished (it was rotting a few months ago). Siding looks good, just needs painting, I think. There are some copper elements around the chimneys and along the edge of the roof. It's really starting to look much better.

The DuPre House is really looking good.  This project is being done right, and I think the house will look amazing when it's finished.  And it looks like it won't be too long now until the renovations are complete.  Here are some photos (check out the details):
