The Greenville News is reporting that Seneca is expected to buy Proterra buses! It will be the first SC city to put the electric vehicles to service! Let's keep the orders coming and keep this Greenville Head Quartered business growing!

I had no idea that Seneca had transit service? Does it act as a shuttle into Clemson?

Any news lately from Proterra? From what I hear, we have a future Solyndra on our hands.

From that news video: 11th bus will be produced this year. CAT looking at buying four Proterra buses. Funding has been secured for all of 2012. Company which was in the prototype phase for a while is now in the process of moving to full on production mode.

To say it would be a future Solyndra is plain wrong. Proterra's ratio of private to public funding is much higher than Solyndra's. In other words most money for Proterra is private, not governmental. No, they will not be falling into bankruptcy court anytime soon.

Spreading negative rumors doesn't help the situation, regardless if they are true or not. They can become self-fulfilling. Do you want this company to fail?

My initial post said "from what I hear". I'm looking for facts that the company will survive and the rumors are wrong. I would think Scgubers has facts as his post is so definite that they are not going under. Word on the street says otherwise. Do you have facts Vic?

I don't have inside knowledge beyond what is in the media and in this forum, which is much more credible than heresay. I've heard Elvis is still alive, that doesn't make it worth repeating. You can inquire on their situation, without broadcasting a negative rumor.

If by any chance 'word on the street ' is WORD radio, then don't pay it any attention.

How about this. Word around town is that Proterra will have plenty of funding through the end of the year. That better? Because now our statements are equivalent. Anyways I mostly was focusing on your bad metaphor. The only similarity between Solyndra and Proterra is that they were both energy companies. Nothing else really.

How about this. Word around town is that Proterra will have plenty of funding through the end of the year.

I don't have any inside info on funding, but if they continue to meet their design goals, customers will be beating down their doors for the product, if they aren't already. Unlike the Chevy Volt, which is optimal for only a select audience, for those cities who can afford to start adding the new buses, payback is quick, as well as less downtime because of better maintenance, and quiet operation.

Well, that's one less empty facility by them choosing to invest in their current building. I hate that their expansion plans have been scaled back, but I'd rather them be MORE healthy than shuttered.

Interesting.......the story seems to be unfolding per my " Solyndra" post above. But of course I wouldn't have a clue. My contacts are all wrong. They don't know anything.

I hope to God that Proterra makes it, but brace for one guys......a big one......it won't be pretty......
