MPLS. - New LRT Photos

Here are several photos taken during the opening of the new MPLS. LRT line. It was a busy weekend downtown MPLS. The Twins were playing at home, roughly 100,000 came out for the opening of the new LRT line and over 397,000 attended GLBT Pride events.

Here's the Hiawatha Line:

Yellow = Mixed with traffic (trains have preemption everywhere except DT)

Red = dedicated ROW with large barrier seperating trains from cars

Green = Elavated

Blue = tunnel

Proposed Central Corridor Line:

Midtown Greenway Streetcar Line

I don't know what to say!! I know it sounds funny, but I'm excited vicariously for you Minneapolis people! The trains look awesome, and it looks like the first line is very well thought out--hitting a lot of hot spots on the way. Keep us updated on progress, it looks like it will be a stellar system when all done.
