Useless tunnel cover to become skate park?

A task force of business leaders, members of neighborhood groups and skateboarders is looking into the possibility of adding features to the park, including a poured-concrete bowl, urban art wall and a stage for performances.

The space they are talking about is the covering over I-84 that was suppose to (and didn't) connect downtown to the north end.

To jump start the process, the city council has lifted its skateboard ban.

I can't say how important this is. Having been a skater for years before deciding broken bones every couple months wasn't acceptable anymore, I can attest that a great skatepark is definitely a marketable asset. In the past, I've traveled to Denver, Portland Ore, Pennsylvania, Albany, and Baltimore to skate at great places. Double thumbs up for the city...
