I really love how that entire area is going to evolve.  It will definitely drive more development in downtown Cary for sure.  You'll have residential, retail, office, a beautiful park, parking, and a public library/arts access.  It's going to be such a beautiful microcosm of walkability.

The town of Cary might get a skyline,  Up to 12 story office buildings proposed at the old mall site by Epic Games.  From the Triangle Biz Journal today

""Epic Games is moving ahead with forming plans to redevelop the site of the Cary Towne Center into a new campus for its corporate headquarters.  The video game and software developer is asking the town to rezone the property as a mixed-use district allowing for up to 3.5 million square feet of office space, 75,000 square feet of commercial space and a 200-room hotel. The proposed zoning change would allow buildings up to 12 stories in height at the tallest parts of the property.   The filings come about six months after Epic Games bought the property, located between Cary Towne Boulevard and Walnut Street, on Dec. 31 for $95 million from Turnbridge Equities and Denali Properties.""

My thoughts the town should approve this much less retail but a lot more office space but this is highly accessible location with I-40 interchange and planned Bus Rapid Transit passing it by the Western BRT line.   With lots of retail coming across the street at Fenton less retail is okay on this spot.

That Earth Fare was always super quiet, wonder how TJ's will do there.  The Cary Pkwy location (which isn't very far away) is always slammed.

Fenton update Nike is looking at locating one of their new concept stores at the Cary's center.

""A building permit application to make way for Nike Live at Fenton was filed with the town on Sept. 3, according to public records. The first phase of Fenton, the 69-acre mixed-used district along Interstate 40 and Cary Towne Boulevard, is set to open in April 2022. The total construction cost for the Nike (NYSE: NKE) project, which is in its early stages, is $1.06 million, according to the application. Construction plans for the 6,055-square-foot space near Trinity Road are currently under review with the town.""

Fenton has attracted yet another retailer.

""The Fenton development in Cary has landed another key retailer: Lululemon Athletica.  The Canadian athletic apparel company has filed plans to bring a new retail location to the project, with around 3,6000 square feet of space at 20 Fenton Main St., Suite 170.  Fenton is on target to open its first phase in April. The Lululemon opening is uncertain.  Fenton developers are planning to open the first phase of the development in April.  Other retailers heading to Fenton are Williams-Sonoma, Pottery Barn, Athleta and Von Kekel Aveda Lifestyle Salon Spa.

On the restaurant and dining side, businesses will include Scott Crawford’s Crawford Brothers Steakhouse, Steve Palmer’s Italian restaurant Colletta, Michael Lee’s M Sushi, Ford Fry’s Tex-Mex restaurant Superica and whiskey bar Dram & Draught, owned by Drew Schenck and Kevin Barrett.""

Honestly I think this will be the best urban park in the state.  I wonder if there's any hope of finding a better/new location for the USPS, and adding more mixed-use development in its place to help further bridge the gap between the park and Chatham St.  Also would be nice to see some of the repair garages redeveloped because there are so many of them.
