Ralph Lauren replacement for sure.

I wonder if it's going to be an A/X? I don't think I've ever seen an Armani Collezione boutique.  Except maybe in Milan when I went back in 2007.  It was the flagship store that included Men's, Women's, Children's and even a Home Furniture all in one building.  It carried not only Armani Collezioni, but also Emporio, and "Armani Jean" which I believe is only in Europe.

The permit says verbatim: ARMANI COLLEZIONI

Now, though thats just what the contractor put in the system, so I assume it could really be anything.  The space identified is N-11.  Ralph Lauren was N-12 (and BCBG Max Azria is N-14) so maybe just part of the Polo Ralph Lauren spot closest to Louis Vuitton.

Actually, after checking again, I see the permit review was approved last month, but the permit hasn't actually been issued yet.

I did hear that Polo would be split up into two stores.

Great news! It's definitely better than having an A{sodEmoji.|}X.

Also, I noticed that it only shows Collezioni for men at Neiman Marcus. That's probably just having a boutique-in-store, though. I know they have a few dresses sold in the Collectors department at Nordstrom.

Now there are two luxury spaces left in the mall. Hoping for a Jimmy Choo next to David Yurman and Ferragamo by Armani. Or, there could still be room for a smaller Gucci if Armani is small enough.

Also, I don't see how there is enough space for an H&M AND an American Girl. American Girl is 12,000 square feet. An H&M is usually about 20K square feet and that's 32K together, and that would take up all of the stores from Macy's to the food court, and that's barely enough. I assumed American Girl was going in the Hallmark space and the other stores next to it. That is about 12K square feet.

I also asked the hallmark store associate about them leaving and H&M taking their spot and it was confirmed. She also stated that the Hallmark store will probably relocate outside of the mall somewhere. I just find it hard to see how both H&M and All American Girl will both fit on that wing.....

Amazing how Charlotte went from having no H&M stores, to having as many stores as the Triangle and Triad combined.

Unfortunately, as many companies have done in the past, this might lead to overexposure.  And next thing you know, everyone will be wearing the same shirt when you are out and about uptown! :ermm:  Look at Gap for example.  At one point, Gap had a location in every mall in the CLT area: Eastland, SouthPark, Carolina Place, Concord Mills, Eastridge (Gastonia), Arboretum, and Birkdale (7 locations)....now it's only in SouthPark, Concord Mills, Northlake, Arboretum & Birkdale (5 locations). Whether this was because Gap lost some popularity or they just had too many locations can be debated.   Also, Abercrombie & Fitch had stores in Concord Mills & Carolina Place, both have closed.  Now you can only find them at Northlake & SouthPark.  In my opinion, I feel like A&F is not changing their styles to 2013.  All there clothes look the same every season.  Whether you have a shirt from 2003 or 2013....it all looks the same.  I hope H&M doesn't become one of those stores.  Quality over quantity!

I went to the Northlake store last night. I'd been to ones in Georgetown and Manhattan before. I don't get it. It's cheap looking crap for the emo crowd. Bleck

And, I would like to suggest M&M as the name for their plus size line instead of H&M+

Jed, as someone that can only afford "cheap looking crap" due to being a college graduate that is working a retail job, I am a little insulted. Not all of us can spend $100 on a pair of jeans you know.

Not to mention "Emo Crowd." I don't think anyone has used that term in a sentence since the late 90s early 2000s. Emo simply hasn't been a thing in a decade. To judge H&M this way just means you are out of touch with Fashion. And its okay to be, most guys are.

H&M's clothing reflects what is ACTUALLY FASHIONABLE in the US/WORLD. H&M follows trends and fashion better than 90% of high fashion brands, and its cheap so that people can keep up with the trends without spending hundreds. I personally do not shop there, as I can now afford to shop elsewhere, but when I first moved to Brooklyn and was broke as a joke, I was religious to H&M. I respect H&M for what they do.

Oh, I'm a teacher...so don't be insulted. I probably make less than you, and that would be with a Bachelors, a Masters and an Educational Specialist Degree. I buy my Levi's at the outlet @ Concord Mills (precisely because I refuse to wear anything tight or fitted).

I've written my response 3 times and I can't get it to sound non-douchie...so I'll leave it at this...

"Emo broke into mainstream culture in the early 2000s with the platinum-selling success of Jimmy Eat World and Dashboard Confessional and the emergence of the subgenre "screamo". In recent years the term "emo" has been applied by critics and journalists to a variety of artists, including multiplatinum acts and groups with disparate styles and sounds.

In addition to music, "emo" is often used more generally to signify a particular relationship between fans and artists, and to describe related aspects of fashion, culture, and behavior." This is from Wikipedia...but if the argument is that I'm out of touch, then what better way to contradict that argument than with a definition that is crowd-sourced.

I'm sure I won't be the last to say I'm a bit underwhelmed by H&M.  I finally got around to going to the new store at Northlake with high expectations and was severely let down.  There were a handful of things I thought were trendy, but nothing I was jumping up and down about.  The service there was beyond terrible.  Just a bunch of associates standing around basically watching you shop without even stepping a foot in your direction.  Heaven forbid I feel welcome while shopping at their store.

But hey, Charlotte's part of the H&M crowd now; so I guess we can stop complaining about not having something that Winston and Raleigh have, regardless of how good or bad a store that may be.  I believed the hype and I don't plan on going back.  I'm fairly certain that the American Girl announcement is a bigger deal than H&M after my experience.

I feel like you guys had odd expectations of H&M. It's a clothing store that caters to early 20-something's that Charlotte didn't have yet. It does now. It's a clothing store, nothing less, nothing more.

I agree with you. H&M is to clothing as IKEA is to furniture. Some people love it, some people hate it. I dont love them or hate them, but if I find something I like within my budget, I will buy it. I rarely shop at Southpark Mall because most stores there are above my price point, but that is ok. There is a place for everyone. Maybe some day I can afford better LOL!

I also don't get H&M.  You can get less-expensive clothes when they are on sale at fancier places.  I can get great dress shirts for work for $15-20, marked down from $69+, on sale at Lord & Taylor, and other department stores are probably similar although pricier, and I get great customer service and high-quality clothes there.  Why change?

I'm actually happy that H&M has entered the Charlotte area. I do however wish that they would've chosen just one or two locations (preferably one of them being uptown) instead of deciding to open in every mall. I do agree that H&M is kind of like the "ikea of clothing", cheap and trendy. No their clothes don't last long but guess what? That's why you pay 9.99 for a shirt and 19.95 for a pair of pants. They are not made to last long because trends change constantly. I would rather have H&M around than some of the other useless stores wasting space in the mall like Lilly Pulitzer and Vera Bradley :barf: speaking of useless tenants, a new concept has opened where great steak & potato was. It's pretty much the same type of food except this place sells hotdogs and sausages I think as well as cheesesteaks. I don't think this is going to last....I give it 6 months
