Seems like the new parking deck doesnt really help to accomodate the people at SP....it was completely full yesterday lol

I think there may be another one planned on the Morrison Blvd. side of Dillard's to be built eventually.

Been to SP twice this holiday season. No problem finding parking and there were no crowds. I have a friend who works for Simon and he said that thus far, the $$$ had not been good at all--SouthPark or any Simon property.

I think it might be national, considering everyone opened their wallets in historic proportions for charity during the Katrina disaster.

I've been noticing shopper patterns lately, and malls are not packing in the people this holiday overall. Discounters are faring a little better, but this year will not be a stellar one for stores.

The Salvation Army-Target situation was overblown. Target does more charitable work per dollar spent by consumers in its stores than most of its peers even without the bell ringers.

The only parking lots that I have seen consistantly packed are the ones that belong to Walmart followed by Target. The malls in comparison, don't really seem to be doing that well.

I've never had a problem finding a parking spot at SouthPark. The real places where I've had problem finding spaces are at Crabtree and Southpoint

Crabtree's easiest parking spaces are behind the mall near Lord & Taylor and Express. Southpoint clears around Sears.

I ALWAYS have trouble finding a park at Concord Mills. The only thing that rivals my troubles there is Lenox Mall on a Saturday evening. *shivers*

What was most incredible to me is that Charlotte's median income of $44,375 ranks 15th in the nation! I think that is pretty incredible, considering we definitely do not have the top 15 cost of living here. That leaves lots of disposable income for luxury goods and uptown high rise condos.

HA! My neighborhood was closing in on zero in 2002 . I'm sure the 2005 numbers will be much different for uptown.

Yeah. Here are specific numbers for some areas:

Fourth Ward is $84,900

Third Ward is $52,031

First Ward is $23,430 <these #s have to be older than 2002 data!

The lowest is the census tract around Brookhill i guess, where S Tryon crosses Remount in that area around Marie G Davis; it's $16,970. And the highest, as seen and mentioned is Eastover at $231,176 (The lowest actually is $0.00 for Charlotte census tract #2, because no one lives there)

Thanks. Mostly stuff we already know, but now we got some specifics. Like Dillard's remodel dates. In all honesty, the whole SouthPark remodel seems like totally it will take a grand 10 years. That's one hell of a remodel.

looks very "Charlotte-like" (at least the Village of Southpark). I think it's a certainty that we are creating our own architectural identity. I like the Crate & Barrel design but it's a little hard to see.

Tragically, the Dillard's remodel is pretty ugly. Looked it up online at charmeck.org rezonings. IMO, the current Dillard's exterior is very cool.

If that is the one with the white blocks, I agree. I hate to see it eliminated.

I like the current Dillards exterior too. I wish they would just pressure wash it, add some cool new lighting scheme, and call it a day.
