SouthPark Mall

Does anyone know what the Charlotte Nordstrom's does on a sales per square foot basis? Are we above/below average?

Anyone think that Charlotet will do really well for NM in terms of sales per square foot since we are such a small store? Was the store designed to accomodate an 3rd story addition?

Has Neiman Marcus stores always just accepted cash, American Express and Neiman Marcus card only? I know on the website will accept Visa and Mastercard but the SouthPark NM, as far as credit is concerned, will only accept American Express and Neiman Marcus. According to a friend of mine that is an asst. manager at NM they will not accept Visa and Mastercard because Visa and MC sell their information and NM wants to keep their client list private. Are all Neiman stores like this? I have a feeling this is going to piss off ALOT of people that are new to shopping at NM.
NM will make arrangements for customers who wish to use other payment methods upon request.

Does anyone have any confirmation on what the final store will be in the new wing? seems like all the others are opening up about now, but nothing has been announced. also the village is coming along nicely, still wondering what's going there.

Nothing has been announced yet. I don't think we will hear anything until after Hermes opens in Nov.

Is there going to be 5 stores in the NM wing? Polo and BCBG on the left (Polo now has their blue wall taken down, almost ready to open), and then Hermes on the right but it looks now as if there are two slots left on the right side. I noticed several construction workers going in and out of the spot next to Hermes so it seems as if something is in the works.

It looks like the 4th retailer will be a Boutique called "Billy Reid". Never heard of this one, but i'm sure it is meant for the neiman marcus wing. Does anyone know the square footage of that remaining slot? That might give us a idea as to what retailer to expect?

That is odd. Billy Reid only has 3 stores: Dallas, Houston, and Florence, AL. Now Charlotte.

Here is the Observer article where it mentions Billy Reid coming to Charlotte.

WOW! Ya'll have to check out that webpage. I don't know who sings that song but I need to find out. This is exciting. I've become so tired of people shoving Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard down my Southern throat and often wondered to myself what the South was doing. With the South's tremendous history and culture I knew a design and brand concept like this was waiting to bust out of the kudzu. This store will really put the South back in SouthPark.

Edit: Ok, so to find out who sang that song I only had to scroll down. But while your at the website check out the collaborations area and visit the Project Alabama site. These grass roots Southern Projects always get me excited. Just think with NC's Textile history what possibilities lie here for unique independent design that would not only be exciting but preserve and strengthen our fading Southern culture.

What a disappointment. This seems like something that would go in the Village of Southpark or somewhere else. The tops look nice, but all the bottoms (bright orange highwaters?) look disgusting. Oh well - when it opens, I will have to take a look. :dontknow:

I don't know for sure if this one will go into the new wing, as opposed to it being a rumor. there have been plenty of rumors surrounding brands like Cartier and Gucci, to newer, hipper brands like M.Misoni, Thomas Pink, and now Billy Reid. Though an excellent fit for the area, I would want to wait and see if they update the mall's website with this one.

It's not the clothes that got me excited. I don't own a single designer item and it's unlikely I will for some time to come. It's the concept, the branding of the line that I like so much. I just think it's refreshing to see an old Southern front portch or central hall used as a backdrop instead of the old hum drum beach weathered wood shingled New England house or crew team boat slip. Couple it with that song and I'm happy to see something new and Southern.
