Scaleybark Station Area Projects

For all the progress various areas of town are making, each and every one still have their suburban development fudge-ups. From QuikTrips, to Valvelines, to Suburban BofA branches, they all have problems. I feel like none of them are quite as damning, however, as the Carvana going across the street from what should be one of the cities most important mixed use development.

Coming to South Boulevard: A car vending machine?

It looks like South Boulevard is on track to see a new kind of development: A “car vending machine” from the online auto dealer Carvana.

The company, which touts its online buying and delivery process, is targeting a site directly across from the Scaleybark Station for the Blue Line light rail. According to construction documents filed with the city, the Carvana location would include an 8,270 square foot auto store, part of which would be a 71-foot-tall “car display” located at the front of the building

Not a half bad building for Scaleybark Station Area. Much better than the Pawn Shop it'll replace. Being developed by Lincoln Harris. 40k sq feet with Surface parking :-(

I like how it comes right up to the street. This will be at the corner of South and Hollis.

Safe to say Southside Dr could become the next Montford Dr with the bar scene?

now just throw some sidewalks in that beotch!

They should make this a one way street from Old Pineville to Yancey, and put big sidewalks/parallel parking.
