In April 2011, a decade after Lansing Township gave zoning approval for the "lifestyle" shopping center, the township will break ground on the next major phase of its development strategy: 120,000 square feet of commercial space and 1,300 parking slots on vacant land just north of NCG Cinemas. LANSING TWP. - Lansing Township is taking a developer's role - and risk - with its plan to build restaurants, stores and a parking ramp near Eastwood Towne Center.

The township board of directors will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday to consider final site plan approval for the project, which includes several new restaurants and stores, a parking structure, 124 privately built upscale apartments and an expansion of NCG Eastwood Cinemas.

The article is writting around the issue of the township being the primary developer of the project, which I guess is pretty rare.

Second hotel coming outside Eastwood Towne Center

LANSING TWP. — A second hotel is coming to the area around Eastwood Towne Center, ramping up the competition for travelers and boosting development around the upscale “lifestyle center” open-air shopping mall.

A 121-room Fairfield Inn & Suites is scheduled to open in November 2015 near U.S. 127 and Lake Lansing Road. That will come on the heels of a Hyatt Place hotel that is part of an adjacent project known as The Heights at Eastwood.

The LSJ, today, had a fairly recent photo of the nearly complete Hyatt Place at The Heights at Eastwood.  The 128-room hotel is scehduled to open next month.

The 109-room Hilton Homewoods Suites at Eastwood is scheduled to have permits out by next month.  The 121-room Fairfield Inn at Eastwood is now scheduled to be completed by October after a construction delay.  Also, the 124-unit The Vista at the Heights at Eastwood will now be completed in the fall instead of its scheduled completion, this month, also after some construction delays.
