This is going to be a disaster long term....and I say that as someone who shares ownership of some low income housing in that area (not something I like to admit).

We do background checks on our tenants, and maintain our units. There are a series of buildings next to ours tha are owned by an LLC from Virginia who doesn't give a darn. Another building nearby is owned by a doctor from Alexandria who does a fairly good job with his. All units are subsidized, but the quality of tenant is night and day between ours and one particular owner.

I think he means LSU's south campus. It's still in it's infancy. It's supposed to house public/private partnerships and research space.

They've only just now started construction on parts of it.

And yes, I think the neighborhood will slow and stunt growth there.

No, there are several buildings there. They have had issues luring more businesses. Everything from the inability to change the street name, the ghetto neighborhood across the street, the lack of a planned street grid. All of it is being run very badly.

There aren't many buildings there at all. Despite this new proposal of a low income project, I still think the area is poised to grow.
