What kind of budget does your city have? Here are a few cities I looked up:

New York: "more then $40 billion" spent per year as of 2002 according to the source

Atlanta: FY2004 projected budget is $419 million

I think Honolulu's 2004 budget is $1.251 billion(Operating Resources)

Dade County is 3.6 billion for fy 2003-2004

City of Miami proposed 2004 budget is $417 million.

Spartanburg County's budget is $109.1 million

The City of Spartanburg's budget is $32million

Not quite as impressive as Miami, but it was more than I thought it would be.

The Providence FY2004 budget was: $ 554,171,020

The FY2005 budget is: $563,901,472 up 1.7%.

I'm not sure if the City Council has given final approval to the '05 budget yet.
