Anyone checked out the "Design Influences" part of CanalSide's website? They give you an expectation of the project's feel will be. I like what I see, but I will say that the 4th picture in the 2nd set is somewhat misleading, since the entire development probably won't have as much retail that's just pictured on that one street.

With alot of developments it takes awhile before you see visible progress. I've seen them out there leveling and moving dirt, etc.

CanalSide is scheduled to start late June. They have a article about it in the state.The permitting needed to transform the 25-acre former state prison site into a residential development is nearly complete. The permits allow soil preparation, the installation of utilities and the construction of sidewalks and roads.

Buildings that will house 175 apartments and about 90 condos should start coming out of the ground by summer. The slow start is due to no existing infrastructure. Other projuects like Adesso or Vsion are single buildings with the infrastructure already in place. Good to hear......
