Selig continually cited PNC Park as a primary factor in his decision to award the game to Pittsburgh just 12 years after the city hosted the 1994 contest.

"This ballpark is spectacular. It certainly played a critical role," said Selig.

Stan Savran made a great point the other night in that this All-Star game could really change America's perception of Pittsburgh. The slot machines should be humming by then, new hotels in operation, a North Shore subway link near completion, maybe a new arena under construction, and of course the sheer awe & beauty that is PNC Park.

With all the money that will be generated for Pittsburgh's economy, and positive image for it's tourist industry--that's a big part of the reason you help the Pirates build that ballpark, IMO.
