klstorey 180 Report post Posted June 21, 2012 Screamscape posted a short update on the progress of I-Drive Live in today's update. Conflicting reports of when the construction will begin, either next month or in the next few months. Also Lance said..."Our sources tell us the latest construction timetables have the opening for the first sections of I-Drive Live between Fall 2013 and Spring 2014, though the planned attractions will not be ready until at least Spring 2014." Orlando is getting a lot of things in 2014, wow lol. I mean everything has a "Fall Groundbreaking" and "Spring 2014 Opening" .
klstorey 180 Report post Posted June 21, 2012 Yeah, and in the meantime we need the jobs now. Maybe we can put this in Cheetah mode and get 2014 here faster.

prahaboheme 1666 Report post Posted October 30, 2012 I-Shops Informational Brochure: http://www.unicorpusa.com/sites/default/files/I_Shops_Orlando_Package_10-03-11.pdf I suppose that I expected a much more urban development at this location, something along the lines of SODO or The Grove in LA. At least the buildings front the perimeter of the parcel along I-Drive and Sand Lake.

prahaboheme 1666 Report post Posted November 3, 2012 I-Drive to get Red Robin restaurant, Kings Bowl http://www.bizjourna...restaurant.html Kings is owned by Lyons Group. I believe this is their first endeavor into the Orlando market. If all goes well with Kings, and I see no reason why a bowling establishment wouldn't do well on I-Drive (especially at this location), it seems likely Lyons will bring some of their other concepts to Orlando. John Hargrove 664 Report post Posted November 6, 2012 That looks like the Eye of London as it was during the Olympic Games, with an LED array photoshopped onto it. Probably for reference. klstorey 180 Report post Posted June 12, 2013 (edited) The former Goodings plaza, where King's Bowl is, is now classified as part of I-Drive Live. Ciao Italia looks to be moving into the space just west of King's Bowl. I have an interview with a rep from Ciao lined up for next week. I can't tell if they are planning to move (which would be a shocker since they've been at their current Westwood Blvd location since day one way back in 1991) or open a second location. As far as I-Drive Live proper goes the pre-fab walls are up on the two buildings flanking the Orlando Eye (the wax musuem and the aquarium buildings). Any word on the Planet Hollywood hotel rumors? I'm still very confused at why the developer kept the Goodings plaza instead of tearing it down and incorporating I-Shops and I-Drive Live into one mega project on the scale of The Grove, Disney Springs (future of Downtown Disney), or something even bigger. That could be huge but instead we get two decent projects with a strip mall wedged between them. I know the retention ponds are in-between the two developments but that can easily be incorporated into the design. Look at what the outlets on the north end of I-Drive did with the ditch or what Millenia did with many of their retention ponds (the I-4 one though really could use a nice fountain in it). I haven't heard much buzz about anything going on at I-Drive Live for a while now. I passed along Universal Blvd the other day and saw some major construction. Is this the site of the development. I was never to clear on where EXACTLY it would be.
