Vacation Homes

1 post in this topic

I'm in Ft. Lauderdale for a couple of days. I took the water taxi around to look at all the yachts here for the boat show, as well as the mega -million dollar homes.

Many of these, and it's usually the largest - are only vacation properties for the owners. Ocassionally they will get rented out, but for the most part they sit empty for most of the year. And we are not talking small homes, either. We're talking 20,000 square foot homes. The amount of money and resources blown on these houses blows my mind. and yet, I also know that each one of them often provides at least a couple of jobs for the caretakers while the owners are out. Whatt are peoples thoughts on these? As a status symbol and just plain luxury, how would you replace them?
