I just happened to check this one yesterday for new renderings from the new company that took over. The plan is pretty much the same as it was when Cambridge had the property. I am unsure if Hastings is still the architect, I suspect they are. Who knows???

The usage of the building remains the same as it was before the sale. It just seems Cambridge has changed the approach from self-development, to one of sell and let someone else develop the site.

There are 2 more parcels yet to be developed here. At some point they are still going to redevelop the lot closest to Charlotte where the parking lot is for Avo, and they will redevelop the lot on the corner at 31st & Charlotte from what I understand.

I  would not live there. All that wood in a multiresident? Nope.

Five years ago, Raleigh's Metropolitan Apartments burned as it was under construction.  Here's a video of the action.  The main crane collapses around 3:40.Melted the windows on several nearby towers, causing the residents to have to leave for over a year while under repairs.  The Metropolitan Apartments were also rebuilt (without burning the second time).

Once it's built and the fire suppression systems are operational, then yes,it shouldn't burn down.  But I'd stick to steel and concrete towers myself.

Permits applied for 5 City Place:   Architect is still Goettsch. A 900 space garage to serve not only the office building but the area as well. It also says the office is to be atop parking structure podium. Not sure it that is really the case here.

Metro Nashville Department of Codes and Building Safety Application for Online Plans Submittal

If this is still the design. I found it before on the companies website but it is no longer there, however I know they are still involved as their address is on the document.

I am looking forward to this for various reasons. First, it will give that area some badly needed height. Second, the project is designed by a world class architecture firm. Third, it is just about the last remaining parcel in OneCity.
