twoshort 30 Report post Posted November 9, 2011 I searched, I can't believe there's not already a Breton Village topic. Anyway, anyone know what's going in next two Anthropologie? There are two building site cards...
Gorath 20 Report post Posted November 9, 2011 No idea, but here's a story from June about interest in bringing more stores to the mall. http://www.mlive.com/business/west-michigan/index.ssf/2011/06/upcoming_addition_may_create_f.html
joeDowntown 1726 Report post Posted November 10, 2011 There was an article last week that said two additional women's clothing stores and a restaurant. They haven't announced who they were but said both of the clothing stores were a result of Anthropologie moving in. I noticed there is a patch of grass in the parking lot across from Anthropologie. I wonder if this could/will hold another building? Joe
suydam 1 Report post Posted November 15, 2011 I heard a restaurant... Bonefish Grill maybe?
twoshort 30 Report post Posted November 15, 2011 I heard that rumor too. Love bonefish, but would rather see something that didn't exist previously!
joeDowntown 1726 Report post Posted November 15, 2011 Sorry, I forgot to mention the restaurant. The article said two women's clothing stores and a restaurant. Sounds like they'll be announcing something soon. Joe

Veloise 46 Report post Posted November 16, 2011 I apologize for using the word two instead of to in my original post. WTF. Let the record show that moi, the resident grammar nazi, had nuthin' to do with this late-breaking awareness.
jwazzz 15 Report post Posted November 17, 2011 I heard a restaurant... Bonefish Grill maybe? Won't be Bonefish - reliable sources told me a couple months ago they've signed a new lease on the E. Paris location and I can't imagine they'd add a second spot at Breton Village.
Gorath 20 Report post Posted December 23, 2011 The two women's clothing stores are Ann Taylor Loft, a national store, and jb&me which is based in Holland, Mi. The restaurant is Houlihan's, a franchise restaurant from Kansas City. http://www.mlive.com/business/west-michigan/index.ssf/2011/12/grand_rapids_breton_village_to.html
egrguy 117 Report post Posted December 27, 2011 I guess GR is on the national chain radar now... Ruth's Chris, PF Changs, Newks, Smashburger, and so on... I have not ever been to a Houlihan's... any good? This is certainly good for Breton Village - its seen a dramatic resurgence since the Anthropologie opening. trongrr 2 Report post Posted December 27, 2011 I guess GR is on the national chain radar now... As a foodie, I'd love to have Trader Joe's or something like a Wegman's appear as a pip on the RADAR scope for GR. One can only hope.
jas49503 62 Report post Posted December 27, 2011 (edited) something like a Wegman's appear as a pip on the RADAR scope for GR. hopefully they learn how to organize their shelves a little better. I could never find anything in their Pittsford store. the other Wegman's that I've been to were no better than a D&W. egrguy 117 Report post Posted September 17, 2013 Trader Joe's? Is that a playful guess?
john_denver 31 Report post Posted September 17, 2013 I really hope it's NOT a strip mall with; Jimmy John's, Scott Trade, Sport Clips and a frozen yogurt place.
GRDadof3 3956 Report post Posted September 17, 2013 Is that a playful guess? Yes, it seems like the perfect location for one.
john_denver 31 Report post Posted September 17, 2013 Yes, it seems like the perfect location for one. What is the un-official rule with Trader Joe's...They do go into a new market unless Whole Foods is already there? Just wonder how accurate that is. I have never thought of Trader Joe's as being expensive. Sure, they have unique items but no where near Whole Foods in my opinion. I like Trader Joe's and think they would do very well in that location.
egrguy 117 Report post Posted September 19, 2013 TJ's is very reasonable, I think they'd do really well in GR. Breton/burton would be a good location. I envisioned some spot on 28th near cascade though.
GR_Urbanist 845 Report post Posted March 27, 2014 "Pooh's Corner customers on store closing: 'It feels like a funeral'" http://www.mlive.com/business/west-michigan/index.ssf/2014/03/poohs_corner_customers_on_stor.html#incart_river_default I only went there once as a kid. The teachers at my elementary school, and some of the kids, spoke of the place like it was the most glorious bookstore ever conceived. I thought they were the only place allowed to sell the Chris Van Allsburg books my teacher bought to read to us. Was sort of underwhelmed by it. Seems a little too pretentious and certainly pricey. Definitely made for the Ottawa Hills, EGR, and Forest Hills soccer mom crowd. Cant say I'm shocked though. Everything there can easily be bought online at a fraction of the cost these days. Very hard to justify the prices in this economy. Sure they have lots of knowledge on the books they sell, but even that can be found on the internet too. But it's sad to see one of the few old school GR stores fade out.
egrguy 117 Report post Posted March 28, 2014 I was in that mall yesterday and with this store closing its empty... I wonder if the could de-mall it and make the interior a courtyard.

But it's sad to see one of the few old school GR stores fade out. I took the kids there a couple of times when they were little. Interestingly I don't think we ever bought anything there. It was a cozy bookstore to hang out in, like a lot of small bookstores. I could picture a "You've Got Mail #2" filmed there. It's a bookstore though, they're all going away eventually. It would be interesting to see Breton Village de-malled. Perfect spot for a "lifestyle center" area.
twoshort 30 Report post Posted April 1, 2014 My wife says there's movement next to/behind fifth third. Any idea what's shaking there? I'm sure it was discussed somewhere, but I can't find it. I think she said there's fencing and a CD Barnes trailer on site.
