City buying J C Penney @ Hickory Hollow Mall for Library

I was waiting for someone else to post this but all aspects of the built environment should be considered along with reuse of older space.

This mall has been on the outs for sometime. I really don’t see a problem with the reuse of the building and if the city buys the entire mall, then that’s fine with me. It’s cheaper than building a new structure for sure. The mall is already home to a satellite of Nashville State Community College.

This is from the NBJ

Here are a few renderings of the project.

A great way to reuse a perfectly fine structure! Now if only the rest of the mall could be "rehabbed." I mean leave some retail, but add something that is in demand or will bring life back, like the NSCC area, library, and 100 Oaks rehab with Vanderbilt clinic and office space.
