That part isn't that bad to look at. It's the little black units that line the edge of the roof that are distracting. I hope those are covered up soon.

I think we're talking about the same thing. Those little black units will soon be covered by a railing system. The same railing system that is already installed and can be seen in the above photo on the upper portion/tier of the roof.

I see what you are talking about now. I had to go back to an older pic of the SoBro to see the top without the rails. I think it will help a lot as fas as the rest of the roof goes.

Wasn't there supposed to be a screen to cover the hvac units?

I think so. Surely if they went to the expense of installing a railing on the upper mechanical(?) roof (the height of which is only a story or so) they will install one to protect folks from falling off a 30-story tower. Not to mention the purely aesthetic function of obscuring those god awful HVAC units.

From Nashville Post:

Officials with Atlanta-based Café Intermezzo Inc. are asking Metro to approve exterior flags, lighting and molding related to their restaurant eyed for the ground level of mixed-use tower The SoBro.

Demonbreun Realty Holding Company, which owns the retail space from which the Café Intermezzo (pictured) would operate, has enlisted Minneapolis-based Planscape Partners to go before the Metro Planning Commission on Thursday, July 27, to request approval of aerial encroachment, according to a Metro document.

If the retail business materializes, it will be the European-style coffeehouse concept company’s first location outside Georgia.

The company has leased a 2,400-square-foot space in the tower, which has an address of 205 Demonbreun St. Chicago-based Magellan Development Group co-developed The SoBro with Giarratana Nashville.

A fall opening had been eyed as of this past March.

Café Intermezzo will join Philadelphia-area craft beer bar and restaurant City Tap House in the approximately 18,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space at The SoBro.

Standing 32 stories and including 313 apartments units, The SoBro sits at the southwest corner of the intersection of Second Avenue and Demonbreun Street.

From Nashville Post:

The Metro Development and Housing Agency Design Review Committee will vote Tuesday on façade design to accommodate a City Tap House proposed for downtown mixed-use tower SoBro.

Slated originally to have opened Jan. 1, 2017, the craft beer-centric gastropub will operate from an 8,500-square-foot ground-level space within the portion of the 32-story building that fronts Third Avenue South (pictured). In addition, a 3,000-square-foot space will be located on the SoBro amenities deck. That space, positioned about 100 feet above street level, will be accessible to both the general public (via a special elevator) and to residents of the apartment tower (via a private entrance on the amenities deck).

Of note, Nashville has no residential high-rise with a similar restaurant/bar configuration.

Philadelphia-based Table 95 Hospitality Group is the parent company of City Tap House and has enlisted SoBro-based MJM Architects for design work.

The property sits within MDHA’s Rutledge Hill Redevelopment District and, as such, the plan requires committee approval.

From today's Nashville Post:

Craft beer-centric gastropub City Tap House will open in The SoBro in late October.

Similarly, the owners of the business — to operate from the mixed-use tower located within the downtown district from which its name derives — have named Ryan Miles as general manager and Ashley Grim as executive chef, according to a release.

“Our vision for City Tap is to be the approachable, yet adventurous, pub in a bustling, historic Nashville neighborhood,” Andy Farrell, City Tap brand director with parent company Table 95 Hospitality Group, said in the release. “It’s an exciting time for the craft beer world, and we look forward to working with local breweries to treat residents and tourists alike to some of the great beer happening in Nashville and Middle Tennessee.”

Originally slated to have opened in early January, City Tap House will operate from an 8,500-square-foot ground-level space with an address of 204 Third Ave. S. In addition, a 3,000-square-foot rooftop space will be located on The SoBro amenities deck. That space, positioned about 100 feet above street level, will be accessible to both the general public (via a special elevator) and to residents of the apartment tower (via a private entrance on the amenities deck).

Of note, Nashville has no residential high-rise with a similar restaurant/bar configuration.

City Tap will offer 60 draught lines featuring local and regional American craft beers, as well as “European artisan brands,” the release notes. It will also provide several wines on tap and a full cocktail menu.

Entrees, to range from $16 to $28, will include grilled ribeye steak frites, Maryland-style crab cakes and a rotating selection of daily suppers. Appetizers will range from $9 to $15 and include 10-spiced dry-rubbed wings, smoked trout sliders and Korean short rib tacos.

The space also will feature a 15-foot LCD video wall as a centerpiece above the 60 taps.

The gastropub will be open daily for lunch and dinner, with brunch available on Saturday and Sunday,

Table 95 Hospitality Group owns and operates City Tap House restaurants in Philadelphia (two), Washington, D.C., and Boston. In addition, the company owns multiple other restaurant concepts in five markets located in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic.

Table 95 is not disclosing the cost of the build-out of the two SoBro spaces or the terms of the lease with co-developers Giarratana Nashville LLC and Magellan Development of Chicago.

The company enlisted Nashville-based MJM Architects to handle the design work.

About 50 to 60 employees are expected for the gastropub.

At about 345 feet and 32 stories, The SoBro is Nashville’s 13th tallest completed building.

Seems like an odd amount of stuff is replicating in Philadelphia, DC, and Nashville... I obviously give myself all the credit for that.
