Projects in the Burbs

Not meaning to upset anyone on the board, I do think it is fair to show developments in the outlying areas of Nashville i.e. Franklin, Brentwood, and Lebanon. I have no idea of all of the developments that are planned but things are starting to pick up all over the Metro area. I know some of you guys are hard core urbanist, but we have to be realistic that development is going to happen in the burbs. So here are a few projects that are happening.

Franklin/ Williamson County/Brentwood

  • 2 spec office buildings: 1, I think is Boyle and the other Spectrum

              [*]New Amazon distribution Ctr.

              [*]Cumberland Center

Plans for the ambitious project include 1 million square feet of retail, 500,000 square feet of office space and a 6,500-seat arena.

              [*]The Mill At Lebanon

              http://www.themillatlebanon.com/the-mill.html

              Murfreesboro

[*]New 1.3 million sq ft Amazon Distribution Ctr.

The problem with Murfreesboro is that I just don’t know enough about the market there to know what is happening. I do know a mixed use facility called The Gateway Viallge just opened earlier this year. http://www.thegatewayvillage.com/

I know that most of the new construction in the Boro is driven by the new Medical ctr. And Nissan’s expansion.

It is hard enough keeping up with the Nashville market much less what is going on in the surrounding communities.

This is a large mixed use facility that was planned for Green Hills that is either dead or on hold indefinitely but the company has a large swath of land and I believe they are still buying property.

According to the documents, Greenbriar was to include about 2 million square feet of office space, 300,000 square feet of retail space (including a grocery store), more than 500 residential units and two hotels totaling 271 rooms.
