News last night in Charlotte led with a story about an eight year old boy inappropriately touching an eight year old girl.

Why ? I was underscoring another poster’s incredulity that the incident at the hotel was headline news. I was just saying Charlotte’s got you beat.

According to the article, it was Nashville's boom status that drew institutional investors to look into Tennessee and ultimately to Memphis.

Since he's a native Memphian maybe WW can get this on the Memphis Forum and keep on top of it for us.

Memphis has had a lot of investment in development in recent years. While much has not been glamorous like warehouses, infrastructure and industrial, it has reached in excess of $10 billion. They've also had a lot of high-profile "false starts" with Beale, 100 N. Main and the convention center. I think the greatest thing that holds the city back is its history of rampant corruption among their local and federal officials. And then there were some terrible, attention-grabbing crimes very recently. The city is due for some positive events. Maybe things are turning around FINALLY!!!

The SEC has extended its contract with Bridgestone Arena to keep its men's basketball tournaments in Nashville through 2035 except for the 2022 tournament which will still be in Tampa; the SEC women's tournament will be held in Nashville that year.  The 2026 women's tournament that was to be held at Bridgestone will be held elsewhere and will be replaced by the men's tournament.

This articles numbers were pretty staggering, i knew we were building a lot of hotels but dang... 

In the third quarter of 2018, analysts at Lodging Econometrics (LE) report that the top five markets with the largest total hotel construction pipelines are: New York City with 170 projects/29,630 rooms; Dallas with 157 projects/18,954 rooms; Houston with 150 projects/16,473 rooms; Los Angeles with 141 projects/24,129 rooms; and Nashville with 115 projects/15,179 rooms.

Met up with Kevin (KJHburg) from Charlotte this afternoon, and we took a 90 minute tour of downtown, The Gulch, Rolling Mill Hill, Germantown, and Midtown.  Always fun meeting urban planning enthusiasts from other cities.   : )

I feel sorry for Ernst & Young.  I mean, they announce 600 new jobs for Nashville, and it didn't even make WKRN's news tonight.  Any other day, it would've been the headline.  I wonder if E&Y would've moved up their Nashville announcement a day or two had they known about today's Amazon's announcement.
