Nashville Bits and Pieces

The missing middle hosing is what Nashville needed 5 years ago and still needs now. SFH homes should be banned inside 440. Du-tri-quad plexes and larger only please.  Even larger developments at intersections, commercials zones, and along any transit that’s available. 

There is so much empty underdeveloped land inside 440 alone. NIMBY’s be damned it all needs to be built on and built on now!

Hmm this shows recent college grads are going to Nashville, Charlotte, Raleigh Durham and even Chattanooga.  Does not mention Atlanta at all. I can't tell you how many University of Georgia I meet now in Charlotte and this would not have happened 10 years as most then all stay in metro Atlanta.  While many still do many are choosing other smaller southeast metro areas.

Nashville before the creation of Percy Priest lake "Reservoir".  I wonder what Nashville would look like today without Percy Priest lake. Would Nashville have been more dense and populated where Percy Priest sits?

No., I don't think so, but having Old Hickory BLVD a complete loop through would probably made Donelson and Madison more developed.  I think that the boom between Nashville and Murfreesboro would have prety much been about the same as it is today.  The real causation of the growth was I 40 and I 24 which would not be diminished or enlarged by the absence of the lake IMO.  \

If anything, Percy Priest Lake spurred on development of subdivisions around the lake where it was just farms and woods before. The low-lying areas along Stones River, which flowed through where the center of the lake is, were likely prone to flooding, so that area may not have been developed into suburbs.

After really looking at those two photos, your theory seems very solid.  With the way all of the roads had stopped or turned, they must have very prone to flash flooding and probably held the flood water for weeks after big rains.

Wallet Hubs annual Best & worst run cities list. This is a list I would not call subjective as they use the same methodology for all cities. Nashville normally performs dismally, and this year is no exception at 109.

Barista Parlor, with the help of a new Somera Road  partnership, will be going national.  Upcoming expansion includes Indianapolis and Louisville.

My friends from suburban Charlotte took their family and their parents to Nashville here are some of their shots.  With their young kids it sure would have been nice to have an amusement park to go because I know they would have.   Love they took a photo of the "the drum sticks"

I know this isn't the perfect answer, but there's a fairly decent little amusement park just 1 hour to the north in Bowling Green, KY called Beech Bend Park that they might want to check out next time.

I don’t know why any city would want to host either of the conventions.  Talk about a nightmare.

I would assume we want the Hotel tax $$ and big time spending around the city. I’m thinking these guests would be no worse than what we attract every weekend

It's not about the guests…but just the protests and increased security needed around an event like this…and always with the chance of something dangerous happening.  I mean…it’s gotta go somewhere…but I really can’t imagine many cities really wanting to deal with the headache of it all.

Don’t get me wrong…our Republic needs healthy political “back and forth”…but it’s just a weird time when it comes to hosting a national party conventions.

I  think a handful of cities don’t need a political convention to up their profile and Nashville is one of those fortunate cities… a big and boring city with the facilities should go for it.

So very true regarding the chance for real violence. I think it would be a interesting experience for sure. I’d probably go down to check out the chaos, but I’m definitely a glutton for punishment lol
