Ahhhhh, but we once came so close. Gov. Claude Kirk tried diligently to move the capital here in the late '60's. To this day, there is a plaque in the new Capitol in Tallahassee commemorating his failure.

Orlando as the state capitol is in interesting proposition. In all ways, it makes sense. It will never happen.

You would think our master budgeteer Rick Scott would see the cost effectiveness of moving it to Orlando. Florida runs just about all of it's agencies in a de-centralized manner which means each area has to send people up to Tally quite frequently for meetings. In other words, he wouldn't have had to sold those planes if Orlando was the Capital, right?
