Charlotte's Quail Hollow golf club, also home to the Wells Fargo Championship and the 2017 PGA Championship, has been named host of the 2021 President's Cup... For those that may not be familiar, this is a huge coup for the golf club and the city. It's an International match play event that pits the world's best golfers in the US versus the World (non-Europe). Takes place every odd year alternating between International and US venues. The Ryder Cup occurs on even years (that's the US versus Europe). This is golf's version of the World Cup. It's a lot different than your normal golf event. Plenty of bantering and enthusiasm among the fans... Lots of fun, even for the casual observer.

Yeah this is definitely great for the city, and just think about how different this city will be by then :)

Its a longshot, and our January weather is not good enough, but Wow! I am glad they are taking the longshot.

Will Webb, executive director of the Charlotte Sports Foundation, told me Tuesday discussions locally have turned serious about bidding to host the college football title game in 2018, 2019 or 2020. Bank of America Stadium, the 74,000-seat home of the Carolina Panthers, would be the site.

The CEO for the firm responsible for bringing the upcoming soccer matches to Charlotte gives a pretty glowing review of the city as an international host: http://www.charlotteobserver.com/sports/other-sports/article19896168.html

I honestly don't follow soccer that much, but I would most certainly be interested in seeing the US Men's National team if they came to town.

Charlotte officials confirm they will submit bids for the 2018, 2019 and 2020 College Football National Championship game: http://www.bizjournals.com/charlotte/blog/queen_city_agenda/2015/05/charlotte-bidding-for-college-football.html

I personally think it's a long shot, but given this city's ability to land the NCAA Men's Final Four and the DNC previously, I wouldn't put it past Charlotte to get this game.

Also an NBA all-star game, another one most likely in a couple years, the PGA Championship in 2017, the ACC Football Championship, Belk Bowl, Belk College Football kickoff starting up this year, etc...

I think Charlotte actually has a pretty strong case to get it.  Hell, Jacksonville hosted a Superbowl.

The Independence knocked off the Railhawks in Cary last night in the US Open Cup and will now get a shot at the New England Revolution on either June 16 or 17th in Massachusetts.  While certainly unlikely, NASL and USL teams have upset MLS teams before!  COYJ!

Railhawks did it 2 years in a row to the Galaxy.  Which prompted this funny Twitter exchange last night.

Also the first road win in franchise history for the Jacks.
