Plainfield between Grove and Caledonia (West side of the street, I believe where 616 was going to do a development) is pending sale. It'll be interesting to see who picks it up.

It is also listed for lease with renderings up for a mixed use development. Not sure if they were putting out feelers before selling the land or if whoever bought the land is getting a head start.

That would be the most incredible development in Creston! I think it would be a game changer if true. Good find. Now to wait and see.

Im not a huge fan of the flat sidewalk frontage.  I would be so much better with some offset variation that made it feel a bit more broken up.

Since the property is listed for sale I'd be surprised that whoever's design this is was moving forward. Wasn't this the site of the other 616 development?

It doesn’t seem logical to me that the cina mini business model works anymore. Can’t imagine  it will be around for long.

This has baffled me for year's. But I do see a few people in and out of the place. Mostly people looking in there 60's.

Haven’t they heard of the internet? Porn is as accessible as ... well, almost anything. :)

When I was younger, we would always honk and wave at anyone walking to the door. Always made me laugh that they had no idea who was honking, if they knew them, etc. somewhat mean spirited, but fun. LOL

Citizen closing for repairs, but coming back with "some amazing big changes."

https://www.grmag.com/2018/09/27/cheshire-village-neighborhood-restaurant-closing-for-repairs/

Have been there twice, but just for drinks.   Once during the afternoon, and most recently last week Friday around 11.  Friday night was slower than I would have thought. Great atmosphere, good drinks.   It's definitely an outlier.  I wish them the best.   It would be nice if those other spots across the street would get underway, and offer some critical mass.

This weekend also saw the announcement of a Kickstarter campaign to reopen Gaia Cafe in Creston. Address is not mentioned, though there is a building in mind; closing is January 15. From the campaign, they've got bigger things in mind than just restoring the vibe:

"With this amount, we will be able to transform the building space with an open kitchen, up to code bathrooms, outdoor seating, and proper parking spaces. We will also be creating a 'grab and go' station with a full juice and self serve coffee bar. "

The ask is an initial $30k.

An update. It has been a Year since the group behind "The Comeback" received $32,000 in funding from their Kickstarter.

They have not given any update in that year, on the Kickstarter page. Maybe they didn't get that loan?

$32,000 in the pocket?  Still would love to see Gaia come back, just not sure with this situation looming over it.

This is why you never give money to a Kickstarter or GoFundMe for an upstart BUSINESS. If a business has a good solid business plan, there are plenty of investors and lenders out there to pitch to. Or you put your own money into it. Or you borrow from relatives. Or you go get a JOB. :)

Couldn't agree more. There's ways to raise the first round of funding before you just ask the public to give you money in the hopes that you'll open a spot.

Yes and if the business doesn't work out, do you think the owners will give the money back? Of course not. The best way to support an upstart business is to become a loyal customer (assuming the business is run well and has something you want/need).

It looks like they are looking to bring it to 1553 Plainfield Ave in conjunction with The DAAC
