North Carolina is a hot bed for singing competition tv shows

Recommended Posts

The American Idol auditions are currently being held in Charlotte this week. But NC has a long history with singing competition shows. Last month the first round auditions for X Factor were held in Greensboro. The next round, which will include judges Simon Cowell, Britney Spears, Demi Lovato and L.A. Reid, will come back to Greensboro on July 8, 2012 and end July 10.

In 2005 American Idol auditions were also held in Greensboro. A number of American Idol finalists are from North Carolina. Clay Aiken and Scotty McCreery are from the Raleigh area. Fantasia Barrino and Chris Daughtry are from the Greensboro area. A number of other finalists like Kelly Pickler and Bucky Covington come from other areas of NC. North Carolina has talent! Other "reality shows" not related to singing had contestants from NC. Survivor season 1 runner up Kelly Wigglesworth is from Greensboro and Jeff Varner from Survivor season 2 is also from Greensboro.
